Your health and wellbeing

Health & wellbeing: Comprises all services that aim at enhancing the wellbeing of adult carers in areas such as emotional support, peer support, leisure, exercise & fitness and creative groups or therapies.

We hope that you will choose to use some of our services.  Caring has been shown to have an adverse effect on people’s health and wellbeing.

The facts speak for themselves.  There has been considerable research into the health and wellbeing of carers.  Well over half (65%) of carers who are aged over 60 have long term health problems or a disability themselves.  Almost 70% of older carers feel that being a carer has had an adverse effect on their mental health.  One survey found that carers who were providing more than 50 hours of care per week were twice as likely to report ill health and those who were not caring.

You are important.  If you are caring, who cares for you?
