Access Barnet Carers from your smartphone or tablet

Would you like to access support from Barnet Carers Centre directly from your smartphone or tablet?  Would you like to be able to get information 24 hours a day, seven days a week?

Would you like to be able to ask us a question or send an enquiry when you are on the bus?  We are currently thinking about producing a Barnet Carers Community App.  This would only be available to Barnet Carers and be completely secure.  With the App you would be able to interact with us, book training, watch video, access mentoring support and a whole lot more.  You would be able to define the kind of information that you are interested in.  It will allow us to supply you with the help, support and information that is of interest to you.

It would be great if you could give us an idea of whether you would be interested in using such an App.  Of course, an App would not mean that you cannot continue to get support over the telephone or directly in our office.  The App would allow us to support more people in different ways and we believe that, for many people, this would work very well, but we also know that it will not be useful for everyone.

We have set up a very small survey and we would be grateful if you could spend a single minute to let us know what you think.

Community Apps are becoming more and more popular.  They have the ease of use of many of the applications that we are used to like Facebook but are designed about specific users – such as Carers.  We would like to create an app that was of real use.  For instance, we would like to be able to stream some of our workshops and training so that if you could not attend in person you might be able to attend via your smartphone or could watch the training afterwards.  We also want to bring people together.  For instance, our support group for people caring for those with cancer is very popular.  We also know that many people find it hard to attend so we would like to form an online community as well that is safe and secure and further helps our carers.
